My 70 year old dad thought I was loony for making manually focused, film photos while he was having fun with a whole new class of digital camera:

Pany G1? In red too! Brave man your dad. Still not electric blue (or for that matter Joe's ZI whatever that colour is). You can share lenses though in an interesting blending of old and new. How do you like it?

I actually ordered the blue one for him, but Amazon sent him red. Once he saw it in person, he really liked the red, so it worked out well.

I only tried the G1 briefly, but I had a positive impression. It isn't that much smaller than an E-420 and 14-42, but it is lighter. The EVF was surprisingly good, and AF speed was impressive. The lens seems to be a winner. The flip/twist LCD was also pretty cool. My dad uses that LCD more than the viewfinder.

With the current lens selection, it isn't for me though. Maybe if that 20mm f/1.7 lens were available I would feel differently. As for my father, over the course of my life, I've seen him go from Nikon film cameras to Canon DSLRs. I don't ever remember him liking a camera this much. I had pre-ordered a 5D II kit for him, and after using the G1 for a week, he asked me to cancel that pre-order and sell off his 20D and 17-55 IS.
