just wondering what photographers are listening to these days, and if said music influences the images they create.

I have to admit that my car radio is set to a 60's station with lots of "oldies". It is not by choice - but that seems to be all it wants to pick up! Cant be bothered to put in a new radio either as they tend to get ripped off. The choice might explain my preference for Tri X and rangefinders though!

nice Tom, i've been listening to a lot of classic prog, garage, beat, and psych rock lately. notably Yes and Floyd and Rush. most people see my music collection and scratch their heads in bewilderment. i usually listen to a ton of weird slow, dark, and depressing indie stuff. i love music but can't play or sing worth a damn. never the less, i was drawn to art and photography through music so it definitely informs how i see images, especially how i edit my work. spending a bit of time on these forums or on flickr makes me curious if like minded people allow music to take part in their photographic processes.

When I'm shooting: Silence. No distractions. One mind.

Street photography is my main interest these days and because I like to know what's going on around me I don't listen to music.

I actually listen to music while shooting a lot. Or perhaps that should be go shooting/do most things while listening to music. Usually just most recent acquisitions - right now it is a combination of Bill Frisell and Ike Quebec.

If I'm out without my family, which isn't often, I typically listen to music. I think that what I'm photographing influences the music I choose rather than the other way around. My taste is pretty eclectic, spanning different genres, but usually I'm listening to some form of jazz when making photos.
