Hello,
I have recently purchased a Zeiss Ikon Contessa 35, the model made between '53 and '55, with the Syncro Compur shutter, and of course, it needs a CLA/overhaul. It's in excellent condition, but the slow shutter speeds are too slow, the viewfinder is somewhat cloudy, etc. Anyone know of someone who is known to be a good repairperson for this model, who could make it a reliable, long-term everyday user?

Thanks

Try Essex Camera in NJ. They have CLA'd more than one older classic for me.

Second essex camera- They are very good with mechanical cameras, and my finders come back crystal clear.

essexcamera.com.

The CLA will be in the $100 range, you will need to Email for an estimate.

Eddy Smolov has also done a number of cameras for myself, Raid, and other forum members.

Well, time for an update; I first sent the camera to Paul Ebel, he had CLA'd my Ricoh Diacord, and had done a great job; put nicely, I wasn't completely satisfied with the experience. I then sent it to Essex; what a difference! Viewfinder crystal clear, controls more fluid, the chrome even shinier, the meter was repaired (new selenium cell). Thanks for the advice!
