Why are the late 35mm f2.4 and 135mm f3.5 CZJ 42mm mount lenses so sought after? - I think the cult started in Japan? I guess some good review?

I don't have either lens at the moment. In regards to the 35mm f2.4 Flektogon, its minimum focusing distance of 19cm is a big attraction.

I'm not an expert, BUT I think it also involves the fact that the M42 mount can be used on modern day digital SLR's with inexpensive adapters on most any camera brand. And given the typical 1.5 magnification of APS-sized digital sensors, the 35mm and 135mm focal distances give you basically nice "normal" lens and telephoto lens views.

The 135/3.5 has a somewhat short close focus, too, IIRC. I have one, but currently have no M42 body on which to mount it. It's a very sharp lens.

Their image quality, I guess. They are amazing glasses. Tack sharp, good bokeh, and for Flek the close focusing. Flek is my all time fav.

I have them. And a pancolar 1,8/50 too.
I prefer the pancolar 50 to the flektogon 2,4. I donīt like the perspective of the 35 mm so much.
But all the zeiss are splendids.
