Hi,

Just a question: I've recently got myself this lens. It's a Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar f4.5 15cm with serial number 900306. I've googled around, and I recon it's been made around the late 1920's. The thing is, it has a M42 mount. But as far as I know, that didn't came around until the 1950's. So, what has happened? Has anybody converted this lens into a M42 mount during it's lifetime? Did Zeiss do this (it is a full aluminium body). Basically, and info you guys might have about this lens is pretty welcome. :) Tnx!

Have you tried it on an M42 body? If the focus is good, then it was properly shimmed. I would guess it was a conversion, not hard to do. I've seen such lenses converted to Nikon rangefinder mount. I've done some conversions myself, but usually to Leica mount.

Post some pictures of the lens if you would.
