Hi
My rest father own and used more than 50 (!) years it's prewar CONTAX II
Now, among all the kinds of CONTAX accessories he left, I found 2 Tessar lenses
The RIGHT one which seems to be a very high quality and well-made (uncoated) lens .
For sure it's the lens which came with the camera in the origin.
And the LEFT one with very high S/N which looks very poor .
I can't imagine Zeiss produced something rubbish like that one.
My father told me that in the 1950TH many Zeiss fakes walked around in the market.
Do you think it's a FAKE ?
Thanks
Alon

Both look like Tessars to me. The one on the right is a pre-war, early 1930s Tessar that came with the Contax I and II. The Tessar on the left looks like a Post-War lens, made just after the end of the war. I have a pre-war Tessar very close to yours, and a post-war Sonnar with a SN just over 3Million. Both of your Tessars are uncommon.
