Following the instructions provided by Brian, I have converted two Jena 50mm lenses to LTM - a f1.5 and a f2. Both have serial nos. suggesting production in 1937, and are uncoated.

Here are some wide open shots from the f1.5 (Fuji 400) on my MP, all at, or around, minimum focus distance I tried to shim it for 1m out).

I'm pleased with the relative lack of flare on the third, which is backlit by a big window.

This lens was filthy inside and out, but cleaned up quite nicely.

Thanks to Brian's help and encouragement, I have a very useable lens :)

Here is another from the 1.5, but this time at f5.6 in very bright sunlight

I'm impressed by how sharp this is

Here are a couple from the f2 - again wide open and as close as possible (with a moving target, and using a 1933 III body!)

Check out that bokeh! ;)

I love the first shot of your daughter in front of the Christmas tree. Bet she got a ton of toys and played with the tupperware...

Great job on the conversions, they look spot-on. The F1.5 lens just amazes me. I know what the fuss was about in the 30s when it came out: a breakthrough design for existing light photography. The F2 is nice, yours has higher contrast than mine. The other thing about these lenses: each one is a little bit different from the others.

Brian,

thanks for the kind words - I would not have managed without your lead. I think the 1.5 is destined to become one of my favourite lenses, possibly displacing my f1.4 Canon (never thought that would happen).

The f2 is great for colour, probably due to the contrast, and might well become a permanent fixture on my 1c body.

Incidentally, make that twin granddaughters - the first is Jessica, all the others are Jasmin. Typical kids - they get great presents, and play with the boxes ;)

I think a black f2 conversion will have to be done as well, as soon as I can raise the cash for donor lenses.

Thanks again :D
