Does anyone have experience with the Distagon 35mm/2.0 and the 28mm/2.0 and could you talk about the differences you see (besides the focal length!)? Especially if you see differences in IQ!

I am considering purchase of either the 35mm or the 28 mm. I have a Nikon D300 and already have the Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8 which I am very happy with. I am leaning towards buying the Zeiss 35/2.0 as its focal length is a little bit further away from the 14-24 and seems to have good reviews. I mainly shoot landscapes and street scenes.

I only have the ZF 35/2 and this lens is fantastic. It is on my camera 90% of the time.

According to Lloyd Chambers who did some extensive testing with all of the ZF-lenses the ZF 28/2 has some field curvature and some CA. The 35/2 has also a very little bit of CA wide open at harsh light-condtions but this can be corrected with one push on a button in postprocessing. I managed to get CA with the 35/2 only once, so for me it is a non-issue.

On several forums on he internet the 35/2 is generally better valued than the 28/2.

I use both lenses on a D3 and it is very hard to see a quality difference between them. The 35mm scores slightly better in technical comparisons but they are very similar in IQ.

The 28mm can focus closer than the 35mm (24cm vs 30cm). This and the focal length are the determining factors for me when choosing between these lenses.
