I recently received a Zeiss Ikon533/16 serial number o 34352 after the passing of my sister. I've been in photography for a good long time but not much contact with Zeiss. The camera is in excellent condition to include the orginal leather case. My concern is the care this jewel needs and whether or not it would be appropriate to offer it for sale to the person who would care for it.

Quite a few people are happy to "adopt" a Zeiss camera, and to restore to working condition.

It's always a personal decision to keep a camera passed from a loved one, and to restore and use it. Post some photo's of it. If it needs a simple CLA, it would not be too expensive to do.

I have a Zeiss Ikon Contessa 35 sold to my Dad in 1955. So far I have not seen
any mention of this camera. I had one guy tell me that it was one of the small
folders before they stopped making folders. He offered me $350.00 but this my
Dads first & only camera. It would be nice to get it working so when my Son get's
it he can enjoy it also.

Essex camera works on almost any camera. KEH in Atlanta is another.

It is a very nice camera, and will produce good pictures when working.

Thanks for the repair labs things are pretty lean for film camera repair here.
It is a beautiful camera I can't wait to try some slides in it that's what my
dad used.

I've used both of these shops for some expensive cameras.

KEH took care of a Leica CL for me- that one is not easy to work on. Turnaround and cost was very reasonable.

I sent 4 of my Nikon bodies to kEH but I did not see where they
worked on Zeiss Ikon Contessa RF cameras. As far as I know it
worked my Dad used this Camera in all 8 of the Countries the US
ARMY sent us to.
He was in Ohio in 1980 & took a trip to Colorado when it quit.
It was sent to a small shop in Western NY for repair & he put
it in his sock drawer. That is where it sat until he gave it to me.

I never had a camera & I went nuts buying retirees Nikon Kits
due to their need for a Digi camera. I bought every book from
the 1930s to the 1980s & shot so much film Wal-Mart kept
running out now that almost all film is no longer sold here I
use the Internet.

I like waterfalls, Classic Motercycles & Muscle cars. I'm only 57
& have a lot more to shoot yet. I am really hooked. However
I want the Zeiss to be gone over before I try it out just in case
some small part is gone or about to break. I will call KEH Monday.

Thanks
