Any Rolleiflex users here? I just acquired a 2.8 GX with a 5-element Planar HFT. It's a beautiful camera and I'm very much enjoying it.

The 5-element 80mm Planar on this camera is awesome! I find it much better than the CZJ 80mm Biometar MC (also a 5-element lens) and Arax/Arsat 80mm. I think I'm just going to use the Arax with the CZJ 50mm Flektogon MC and 180mm Sonnar MC for now on. If I want to shoot with an 80mm, It will be with the Rolleiflex.

So far, I only put one roll through it - Fomapan 100. I'm close to finishing a roll of Acros 100 - I'll likely develop it tomorrow night. Unfortunately, I don't have any colour 120 film on hand at the moment but I hope to try the new Ektar 100 once it becomes available in 120.

I use a Rolleiflex also. It has a six element Planar 3.5. I hope to never part with this camera. You'll love the Fuji Acros, it's one of the great films.

Just acquired this Mk I 2.8F Planar and will be using it as soon as have sourced a lens hood ... dealer described it as "EXC - " so was pleasantly surprised when it arrived ... was expecting a really tatty camera but it is superb for its age

The Planar is a fantastic lens and the history of the camera is also interesting, like Minox and Leica.

I got the Bessa III earlier this year and that spurred me to resurrect my Rollei E with the 75f3.5 PLanar. I suspect that the Bessa III's Heliar 80f3.5 is marginally better - but that Planar 75f3.5 is no slouch. I also like the different viewpoint from the Rollei. Over the years i have used mulitple Rollie's but my favorite has always been the 75f3.5 Planar.
However, if you leave them unattended for a long time, they "sulk" and require that you have them serviced as a penalty. Speeds go off, small animals - spiders tend to take up residence in the body cavities. So, remember - at least 1 roll/month and they stay happy!

Everyone should have one Rolleiflex in their lifetime. Completely unique experience.

I used a borrowed Rolleicord IIb on and off for about a year, I really miss it. I'm considering getting a new one, maybe even a Rolleiflex T or something of that sort. Don't really know enough about the models to see which is the best one for not a lot of money.

The Rolleicords with a Xenar or Tessar will deliver fine results, and can be bought for ~100 or less. The Xenar and Tessar equipped Rolleiflex's offer rapid winding levers instead of the Advance Knobs.

The Xenotar and Planar lenses will be sharper at the edges wide-open, but will run several times as much money.
