Hello,

I have been reading about the new Carl Zeiss Limited Edition Sonnar T 1.5's that are for sale and are marketed as Nikon S mount lenses. As you may know Henry Scherer has a detailed explanation about how these new lenses are really better for the Contax mount cameras than the Nikon.

Is there anyone here that has bought one and is using it on Nikon and what are the results.

Thanks!

Ray

Ray, I have the SC Sonnar 50mm f1.5 and also the M-mount version of this lens. On my M's the ZM Sonnar is my preferred 50mm and on my Nikon Rf's it gets used more than my Millenium Nikkor 50f1.4!
I use it for bl/w as I like the rendition it gives to black/deep shadows. Very "lush" tones - slightly less contrast than the Millenium. It is also very compact and has less of the "bottle neck" of the Millenium 50.
There has been some talk about "focus shift" with the SC Sonnar - but a/I have never had a problem with it and b/ virtually any Sonnar design exhibits a slight shift at wide open or close to wide open anyway.
Good lens and I highly recommend it - and as there was less than 300 made - it has the potential to become a dreaded "collectible" at some time - if this is important to you.

Thanks Tom......as usual.

Personally I place no value on collectibility, although I confess that my S3 Mil kit is the most babied of all my cameras.
