On the resolution front first, it can be said that when used with a lens capable of showing what this sensor can do, the A900 is the highest resolving DSLR that I've ever used.I have rarely seen such wide dynamic range from any camera, including some medium format backs. Also interesting are comments on the Zeiss ZA 24-70/2.8 as well as comparisons between the Sony and the Contax RTSIII.

Also interesting is that Michael has purchased a 2nd a900 for his personal kit. Maybe all those closet supporters will feel more at home now that a big name is openly supporting the a900.

Everyone I know who has the A900 regards it very highly. In the past 2 months, I feel as though I've seen more comparisons of the A900 to digital medium format than I've seen between the Canon 1Ds III and medium format in the past year. Michael also mentioned picking up a another new Zeiss prime. Hopefully we'll be hearing more from him soon.
I've found the A900 to have incredible range. I'm able to recover an astonishing amount of detail from under/overexposed RAWs.

I'm hearing the same from multiple sources - that the A900 has great dynamic range despite small pixel pitch relative to medium format and lower MP 35mm sensors. One of our members, Jono Slack, has shared some A900 RAW files over at the GetDPI forums (http://forum.getdpi.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4397).

When it comes to build quality and handling, the A900 has little to fault and much to like. Yes, I've bitched about a few things in the above review, but then there's always something to criticize, because no product is perfect. It just comes down to the compromises that one is will to make. These are hard economic times for almost everyone, and the indications are that things are going to get tougher before they get any better. In that type of climate a good all-rounder at a competitive price is what's needed, and the Sony A900 DSLR offers just that, along with class leading resolution.I believe that for the first half of 2009 the two hot pro and serious amateur cameras are going to be the Canon 5D MKII and the Sony A900, both priced under US $3,000 and both offering some unique features and capabilities.
