Hi guys,

Took a few shots with this lens on the Epson R-D1s and first impression was quite good.

Very nice! Smooth Bokeh. It also looks like the RD-1 has no trouble handling the lens wide-open.

ISO 800, 1/60 sec, f/2.0. Zeiss Sonnar 85mm f/2.0 on Epson R-D1.

Unsharpened JPEG converted from RAW format. White Balance corrected in Adobe Photoshop CS2.

I've linked in the original size files for click through. It's interesting to note the mild color fringing in the highlight areas of the photos. Whilst it's not visible in the 500 pixel files, when view in it's original resolution, the edge of the white shirt in the first picture as well as the reflections on the chrome parts of the lens barrel clearly shows it.

Anyone else have experience to share on this aspect of the lens?

Cheers,

That's a beautiful lens, and a great write-up on it.

How is the focussing wide-open on the Rollei? I've used my classic Nikkor 85/2 on the Bessa R2 and can usually "hit-it". It's a bit easier with the M3.

I should be getting my prints for the first roll back soon. Hope I will have some nice shots to share.
