Hmmmm, it has been quiet here lately.

I am using Contax system lately, converting from my Rolleiflex system. I have written something on my Contax systems, and so far on the lenses 50/1.7, 28/2.8 and 135/2.The 50/1.7 and the 28/2.8 are really good value for money Zeiss.

Some of the photos I have taken with my Contax Zeiss can be found in one of my Galleries on my website.

I am still hoping Zeiss to release their latest ZF/ZK lenses in C/Y mount but I think the chance is remote. Eyeing at the 28/2, 50/2 macro and 100/2 macro. Sad that the C/Y system is very dead now.

I really don,t need any of the ZF lenses for the CONTAX mount. I own with my RX the Distagon 35mm F1.4; Planar 50mm F1.4 and a Planar 85mm F1.4. For me the Contax system is very ALIVE !. Om my wish list is the Distagon 21mm,however when I need a 21mm I grab my Biogon 21mm on my Contax G2

I'm not sure what 'dead' means in this context, or what state a system has to be in in order to be declared dead. Contax RTS is no more dead than just about any other manual-focus film system. My Contax system is still eating film in healthy quantities, and producing photographs in satisfactory quantities and qualities (technically at least, if not aesthetically). My Zeiss lenses will outlast me. I think the design life of my RTS exceeds that of just about any current digital camera. I'm still using folding cameras and box cameras dating from the 1930s, and I guess one could call these 'dead systems', despite the reluctance of the corpses to lie still and do nothing.

Perhaps 'dead' here is only intended to mean that there's no new product development, and that's undeniable. Obviously I can't speak for others, but my Contax system does everything I want it to do, and whilst it would be nice to have a digital body that accepted CY mount lenses directly, I realise that that's unlikely to happen, and I can make do with a Canon EOS & adapter.

All the same, I think I'd rather see some new bodies in CY mount than ZF/ZK lenses in CY mount.
