Hi guys,

Just wondering, how to get at the diaphragm to clean it on a Planar 50mm 1.7?
Stops down to 5.6 and up again no problem, but between 5.6-16, something's sticking!!

I've never taken apart this particular lens, but have had luck with the Nikkor 50mm F1.4 AIS and Canon 50mm F1.4 FD mount. There is typically a set screw holding the front filter ring or front lens module in. Sometimes they are under the rubber focus grip. On the Nikkor, one set screw holds it in place. With that out, the filter ring unscrews and the front lens group normally just comes out with a rubber mouse bad, or something to let you grip it. After that, some lighter fluid on the aperture blades got my lenses working again.

Worth a look anyway.

RF lenses are SO much easier to take apart.

Great Post!

I've been disassembling a 5cm F1.5 Simlar this week. Circa 1950. Way Easier!
